Important Updates to the Leicester Park & Ride Service

Upcoming changes to the Leicester Park & Ride Services

Following a recent tender win for the Park & Ride contract, we have been working hard to review the current service and identify where changes can be made to improve the overall service offering. Upon evaluation of the current service, routes and pricing we will be implementing some updates to the Park & Ride service.

So what’s changing?

Whilst the overall service will remain the same reliable service that the city knows and loves, we’re implementing some changes that we feel will only enhance the service.

  • Expanded Park and Ride Routes
    • To expand accessibility across the city, we have added new stops across all three Park & Ride routes. This will still follow a direct route into the city, but allows for more stops along the route.
    • Updated maps and routes will be shared via the new Park & Ride Facebook page which can be accessed here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61577397310094

  • Board at any stop along the route
    • No car? No problem! You can now board one of our vehicles at any of our designated stops along their routes, so no need to get to one of our parking sites first! This will allow wider accessibility to those needing to use the service.

  • Multi-route travel
    • We’re excited to announce that from the new launch date, you can now use your ticket to travel on any of our Park and Ride routes. This expands the range in which you are able to travel across the city, and make the most of your ticket!

  • Long term pass savings
    • With a wide range of on-board ticket options, you can also pre-book long term passes and make a huge saving! With 3, 6 and 12 month options, these passes are great for commuters and those using the service every day.
    • For example, with our 12 month pass, you can travel for just £1.95 per day! That’s over a 50% saving per day!

  • Refer a Friend Scheme
    • We’re also thrilled to introduce our new ‘Refer a Friend’ scheme which will be launched this year as a way to reward you for introducing new pass holders to the service! More information will be shared on this soon, so keep your eyes peeled!

Fare Changes

With changes to the service offering, there will also be updates to the fare costs for using the service. Whilst we appreciate change is never easy, we will always endeavour to keep our fares as low as possible, in order to provide a seamless service.

FAQs

To help with any initial questions you may have, please take a look at our FAQs below.

Why have the routes been updated?

We have updated the routes in order to increase accessibility to transport links across the city, and allow more locations in which the routes can be boarded from.

Why have the fare prices changed?

We understand that any changes or increases to prices can be frustrating, and whilst we appreciate this change isn’t always easy, we’ve kept our prices as low as possible. Having reviewed all aspects of running routes from the 3 sites, due to increases in operational costs, maintenance costs and inflation we have had to increase fares on the Park and Ride service. By increasing the fare prices, we are able to continue to run the service at a higher quality and run it sustainably as a business.

What will happen to my existing pass?

If you have an existing pass with us, this will be valid until your pass expires. If current pass holders would like to renew to one of our pass options after your pass expires, we will be offering 10% off new pre-booked passes. Please contact our team for more details.

Please be aware, that during this period of change as we take over operation of the service, our new passes are temporarily unavailable to purchase online. If you would like to purchase on of our new passes, please email parkandride@robertstravelgroup.co.uk with your name, email address, telephone number, pass length and site. Following this, once our passes are available, we will contact you directly with information on how and where to purchase.

Can I use my ticket with other service providers?

Our multi-route travel options and tickets are only valid on one of the three Leicester Park & Ride Routes (Meynells Gorse, Enderby or Birstall).

How many people are valid on the group ticket?

Group tickets are valid for up to 5 people arriving in the same vehicle at a Park & Ride site. One ticket will be presented and all members of the group must travel together for this to be valid.

I’m an NHS/UHL Employee, will I still receive free travel?

Due to recent financial subsidies being removed, we are no longer able to offer free travel to NHS/UHL employees. We understand this may cause some frustration and further questions. For this, we advise you to contact a representative from your organisation.

How much do I save with a pre-booked pass?

With a pre-booked pass you can make long term savings. For example, our 12 month pass reduces your daily ticket rate to just £1.95 per day. This is over a 50% saving as buying a day ticket each day would be £4.85 each time. This makes our pre-booked passes the perfect option for commuters or regular travellers to the city.

What time does the service run until?

The service running time will remain the same and run Monday - Saturday from 7am - 7pm.
