We are seeking a skilled and motivated PCV/HGV Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, service, maintenance, and repair of a fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are safe, roadworthy, and operating at optimal performance.
You will play a key role in identifying current faults, proactively detecting potential issues, and delivering effective, timely solutions. Working collaboratively within a team, you will contribute to maintaining high operational standards and minimising vehicle downtime.

We are the largest coach operator in Leicestershire, and we have spent our last 30 years of business building an unrivaled experience and a friendly and trustworthy reputation. We have an extensive fleet of executive vehicles which helps us to service our programme of over 500 coach holidays, day trips and short breaks across the UK and Europe. We also operate a wide range of Private Hire jobs for a variety of occasions and provide school transport to thousands of pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repair work on PCV/HGV vehicles, including chassis, body, and associated components.
- Perform scheduled inspections in line with company and statutory requirements, accurately diagnosing faults and determining appropriate repairs.
- Use diagnostic equipment, software, and technical manuals to identify mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Complete all relevant documentation, including defect reports and maintenance records, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Install, fit, and commission new vehicle parts and accessories as required.
- Conduct road tests where appropriate to verify repairs and ensure vehicle safety and performance.
- Ensure all vehicles meet legal compliance standards, including roadworthiness and health and safety regulations.
- Liaise with suppliers to source parts in a cost-effective and timely manner.
- Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and carry out roadside or on-site repairs where necessary.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in accordance with health and safety legislation.
This role requires flexibility to meet operational demands and may involve occasional overtime or call-out duties.
Skills and experience:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar PCV/HGV engineering or technician role.
- Full UK Driving Licence (HGV/PCV licence desirable but not essential).
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Good working knowledge of relevant UK vehicle safety and compliance standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
