Roberts Travel Group Wins ‘Breakthrough Award’ at the GreenerFuture Leicestershire Showcase

Spirits are high this week here at Roberts Travel Group as we collectively celebrate our success and recognition with the ‘Breakthrough Award’ at the GreenerFuture Leicestershire Impact Showcase, hosted by the University of Leicester.

The event celebrated local businesses that are leading the way in innovation, sustainability, and energy efficiency across the region. As part of the GreenerFuture programme  - which has supported nearly 200 SMEs and brought over £2.6 million of investment into Leicestershire - the Showcase highlighted how collaboration and forward-thinking are helping shape a greener, more prosperous local economy.

During the ceremony, Roberts Travel Group was recognised for its dedication to environmental progress and innovation within the transport sector. Leicester’s GreenerFuture team shared the following reflection on our achievements:
“Sometimes there’s a single breakthrough moment that changes everything. For Roberts Travel Group, that was their amazing electric coach. We’ve really seen this journey for them, from doing an audit and carbon calculations through to setting a policy and enrolling staff champions, they’ve embraced sustainability as a driver of growth and transformation. We can’t wait to see what they achieve with this and we are happy to celebrate them here today.”

This recognition follows our investment in Leicester’s first electric coach, the creation of an internal ‘Green Team’, and our continued commitment to understanding and improving our environmental impact.

Although new, the now formed Green Team will play a key role in guiding our sustainability journey - engaging with teams across the business, identifying meaningful improvements, and supporting initiatives that make a lasting difference.

Receiving this award marks an exciting milestone in our journey towards a more sustainable future. We extend our sincere thanks to the University of Leicester and the GreenerFuture Leicestershire project for their ongoing partnership, guidance, and recognition.
